100 STUDENTS
& GRADUATES PARTICIPATED

The goal of the Open Day was for young people to get a taste of the rhythms and energy of one of the largest shipping centres worldwide, which is none other than that of Akti Miaouli and Piraeus, to understand the scope of the maritime cluster and the opportunities that it offers, but also to come in direct contact with the market and its executives.
This initiative was also carried out in October 2019 by YES FORUM with equally great success.
The main actions during the visits were a tour at the Companies’ offices, a presentation of their structure and organizational chart, as well as a discussion about the profile of young people that each Company is looking for. The participants were students of Maritime Studies, Economics and Financial Studies, Law, Business Administration, Shipbuilding, Logistics, Journalism, Merchant Marine Academies students, etc.
The Companies visited were: THE AMERICAN P&I CLUB, ARKAS HELLAS, BENEFIT, ERMA FIRST, GOLDEN CARGO, MOORE GREECE, NEPTUNE LINES, NORTH P&I CLUB, OCEANKING, PALAU INTERNATIONAL SHIP REGISTRY, RINA HELLAS, TOTOTHEO, EMBASSY & GENERAL CONSULATE OF PANAMA IN GREECE
One of the highlights of the day, was the visit to NEPTUNE LINES, where the students had the opportunity to meet with Mrs. Melina Travlou, President of the Company and the Union of Greek Shipowners and to talk with her, while her good self characterized the participation of young people in shipping as a determining factor for the development of our nation’s marine workforce. Also, Mrs. Travlou, pointed out the predominant presence of female students in the group, and referred to the pivotal role that women can and must play at all levels of shipping operations.
During the visit, the students asked their questions and were informed by the CEO and the top Management of NEPTUNE LINES, about issues related to the operation of the shipping industry.
The event culminated at the new meeting point of YES FORUM, Piraeus Marine Club, where the President, Mr. Giorgos Alexandratos, welcomed everyone, characteristically saying that “It is always beneficial to knock on doors, but we must also take advantage of the opportunities that are given to us when the doors open, as it did today with the organization of this event and the presence of renowned executives, willing to talk to you and help you”.
Afterwards, Danae Bezantakou, concept-founder of YES FORUM and volunteers of the group proceeded to announce the conclusions of the day and the beginning of the discussions between the young people and the executives who were among them, having the opportunity to introduce themselves, give their CV and get answers to their questions from their potential future employers / partners.
Asking the young people to describe their experience in one sentence, responses were given such as: unprecedented experience, source of inspiration, fundamental event for my professional career, unique opportunity to get to know the world of shipping.
This is the first of many actions that YES FORUM will organize during the current academic year, aiming at connecting the new generation of shipping and executives from the whole cluster.
The YES FORUM team invites everyone to stay tuned by saying #yes_to_shipping!
