YES Forum says YES to Sea Tourism by organizing YES to Sea Tourism Forum on Wednesday 24th of May 2017 at «Nikos Skalkotas» conference hall at Megaron Athens Concert Hall from 13:00 to 19:00, during the International Conference & Exhibition of Ρosidonia Sea Tourism Forum. YES is the first ever forum to be held under the auspices of Ministries of Shipping, Education, Tourism, of GNTO and the majority of Greek Universities and organized by a team of 45 volunteers.

It is our strong belief that the open dialogue which began at Posidonia 2016 and attracted more than 1300 delegates must continue and we hope even more people will be motivated to support our vision and effort.

The delegates of YES to Sea Tourism will have the opportunity to explore and become acquainted with Posidonia Sea Tourism exhibition, watch a yachting session, as well as submitting  their enquiries in relation to sectors of cruising, yachting, and sea tourism. YES to Sea Tourism Forum will address the opportunities offered in these sectors and the required skills in order to succeed in them.

Welcome Address of Ilias Tsakiris , CEΟ, AMERICAN HELLENIC HULL,  will be followed by a live discussion between forum delegates and qualified and accredited executives of the sector. Participants of the Panel will be : George Xiradakis, Managing Director, XRTC BUSINESS CONSULTANTS LTD and President of the Propeller Club (Port of Piraeus), as moderator, with speakers  Diogenis Venetopoulos, Partner – Vice President Sales, VARIETY CRUISES, Emmanuel Vordonis, President of POSEIDONION GRAND HOTEL – Ex-Executive Director, THENAMARIS, Dimitris Koutsolioutsos, CEO/Founder, INSTAYACHT – FARMERS REPUBLIC, Chrissie Palassis, Partner, CTM HELLAS, Maria Theofanopoulou, Publisher of Greek Travel Pages.

The conference will be held entirely in Greek, except for the live speech and dialogue with Young Executives by Ukko Metsola, Vice President, ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISES LTD, which will be held in English.

YES to Sea Tourism experience does not end here. Upon completion of the panel, executives from the shipping industry will participate in 4 networking corners in order to discuss with young people regarding the sector in which they are active and answer their questions.  A different topic will be analyzed at each networking corner and these are: ‘’ Administration-Crew-Operations Dept. of a Shipping Company’’, ‘’Startups & Innovation’’, ‘’Technical Department of a Shipping Company’’ and ‘’Marine Insurance & Classification Societies’’.

To YES Forum λέει ΝΑΙ στο Θαλάσσιο Τουρισμό με τη διοργάνωση του YES to Sea Tourism Forum την Τετάρτη 24 Μαΐου 2017 στη συνεδριακή αίθουσα «Νίκος Σκαλκώτας» στο Μέγαρο Μουσικής από τις 13:00 μέχρι τις 19:00, κατά τη διάρκεια του International Conference & Exhibition του Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum. The 1st ΥES to Sea Tourism Forum was held during the 4^th POSIDONIA Sea Tourism, on Wednesday 24 May 2017 at the hall «Nikos Skalkotas» of the Megaron International Conference Hall, with the initiative of the YES Forum Team, consistied of 40 young executives and students managed by Mrs. Danae Bezantakou, Managing Director  of the NAVIGATOR SHIPPING CONSULTANTS.

YES to Sea Tourism Forum was organised under the Auspices of the Ministries of Shipping, Education, Tourism and GNTO (National Organization of Tourism) and the majority of Greek Universities as well as the participation of more than 600 students and executives from the sea tourism & shipping industries.

Speakers stressed the need for launching a Platform of Open Dialogue between the young generation of shipping and sea tourism and today’s executives of the above sectors, recognizing simultaneously the contribution of the organization towards this goal.

The welcoming addresses were made by Mr. Dimitrios Tryfonopoulos, General Secretary of GNTO, Mrs.  Evridiki Kourneta, Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism and Mr. Pafsanias Papageorgiou, General Secretary of Lifelong Learning and Young Generation.

Worth mentioning is that during the Forum, the collaboration of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Tourism was announced, regarding the upgrade of the Higher Schools of Touristic Education and the further modernization of the education provided in the 8 Public IEK (Institute of Professional Training) for Tourism. Following YES to Shipping 2016, the Ministry of Education underlined the necessity to upgrade maritime training, to develop the level of study in shipping-related schools and to bring them in contact with the shipping community, especially in terms of training program Studies.

According to a survey conducted by Focus Bari exclusively for the YES to Sea Tourism Forum, 82% of the respondents ranked from 7 to 10 (excellent) sea tourism in terms of their professional prospects, while in terms of salaries, 66% believe they are in satisfying level in comparison with other professions. However, 80% believe that information on employment is limited.

The Vice President of Royal Caribbean, Mr. Ukko Metsola, alongside with his speech, held a dialogue with the participants, referring to key features of the cruising and yachting sector. He underlined also that basic prerequisites for the development of a young individual are will and persistence.

Among the topics raised by the speakers were that the sectors of sea tourism, cruising and yachting in Greece are filled with opportunities for young people, which they should not be afraid to pursue and exploit. At the same time, issues such as the problems and challenges involved in finding managers were discussed, advice was given on the steps a young individual has to follow at the beginning of his/her career, and all of them insisted that the right conditions in order to “stay in Greece” have to be created first by us.

It was an honor for the organisers to participate at the Forum, among others, Professors from the biggest University Institutes of the Country, Senior Executives of Sea Tourism and Shipping, representatives of major organizations as well as representatives from the entire Maritime Press.

YES to Sea Tourism closed with executives from shipping industry participating in 4 networking corners with the following topics: “Chartering, Crew and Operations Departments of a Shipping Company”, “Startups, Innovation & Save Time in Shipping Agencies”, “Technical and Finance Department of a Shipping Company” and “Marine Insurance and Classification Societies”, giving advice to young people and answering their questions in reference to the above mentioned sectors.

Concluding this very successful Forum, Mrs. Danae Bezantakou invited everyone who contributed and supported YES to Sea Tourism Forum to continue this successful dialogue next year, at the 2nd YES to Shipping Forum, on 8th of June 2018 during Posidonia 2018.

Στα πλαίσια της διοργάνωσης του 4^ου POSIDONIA Sea Tourism Forum πραγματοποιήθηκε την Τετάρτη 24 Μαΐου 2017 με μεγάλη επιτυχία, το 1^ο ΥES to Sea Tourism Forum με την πρωτοβουλία ομάδας 40 νέων επιστημόνων και με το συντονισμό της κυρίας Δανάης Μπεζαντάκου, Διευθύνουσας Συμβούλου της NAVIGATOR SHIPPING CONSULTANTS.

Το YES to Sea Tourism Forum πραγματοποιήθηκε υπό την Αιγίδα των Υπουργείων Ναυτιλίας, Παιδείας, Τουρισμού, του ΕΟΤ αλλά και της πλειοψηφίας των Ελληνικών Πανεπιστημίων.

Στην κατάμεστη αίθουσα «Νίκος Σκαλκώτας» του Μεγάρου Μουσικής το παρόν έδωσαν περισσότεροι από 600 φοιτητές και στελέχη από το χώρο του θαλάσσιου τουρισμού, της ναυτιλίας και όχι μόνο.

Με αφορμή την συγκεκριμένη εκδήλωση, οι ομιλητές τόνισαν την ανάγκη δημιουργίας μιας Πλατφόρμας Ανοιχτού  Διαλόγου μεταξύ της νέας γενιάς της ναυτιλίας και του θαλάσσιου τουρισμού και των σημερινών στελεχών τους. Όλοι οι συμμετέχοντες εξήραν τη συμβολή της συγκεκριμένης διοργάνωσης  στο σκοπό αυτό.

Κατά τη διάρκεια της έναρξης, χαιρετισμούς απηύθυναν ο κύριος Δημήτρης Τρυφωνόπουλος, Γενικός Γραμματέας του ΕΟΤ, η κυρία Ευρυδίκη Κουρνέτα, Γενική Γραμματέας του Υπουργείου Τουρισμού και ο κύριος Παυσανίας Παπαγεωργίου, Γενικός Γραμματέας Δια Βίου Μάθησης και Νέας Γενιάς. Άξιο αναφοράς είναι ότι στα πλαίσια του Forum έγινε επίσημη ανακοίνωση της συνεργασίας του Υπουργείου Παιδείας και του Υπουργείου Τουρισμού για την αναβάθμιση των Ανώτερων  Σχολών  Τουριστικής Εκπαίδευσης και εκσυγχρόνισης ακόμη περισσότερο της  παρεχόμενης εκπαίδευσης στα 8 Δημόσια ΙΕΚ Τουρισμού. Σε συνέχεια του YES to Shipping 2016 υπογραμμίστηκε από το Υπουργείο Παιδείας η αναγκαιότητα αναβάθμισης της ναυτικής εκπαίδευσης, η ανάπτυξη του επιπέδου σπουδών στις συνδεδεμένες με τη ναυτιλία σχολές και η στενότερη διασύνδεσή τους με τη ναυτιλιακή κοινότητα, ιδιαίτερα σε ό,τι αφορά στην κατάρτιση των προγραμμάτων σπουδών.

Σύμφωνα με έρευνα που πραγματοποίησε η Focus Bari για το YES to Sea Tourism Forum και παρουσιάστηκε στους συμμετέχοντες, το 82% των ερωτηθέντων βαθμολογούν από 7 μέχρι άριστα (10) τον θαλάσσιο τουρισμό, όσον αφορά τις επαγγελματικές προοπτικές που προσφέρει, ενώ όσον αφορά τις αμοιβές το 66% θεωρεί ότι είναι καλές σε σχέση με άλλα επαγγέλματα. Ωστόσο σε ποσοστό  80% θεωρούν ότι η πληροφόρηση για την απασχόληση είναι περιορισμένη.

Ο Αντιπρόεδρος της Royal Caribbean κύριος Ukko Metsola, κατά την διάρκεια της ομιλίας και του ζωντανού διαλόγου του με τους συμμετέχοντες, αναφέρθηκε στα βασικά χαρακτηριστικά του κλάδου της κρουαζιέρας και των σκαφών αναψυχής. Τόνισε επίσης πως βασική προϋπόθεση για την ανέλιξη ενός νέου είναι η θέληση και η επιμονή.

Ανάμεσα στα θέματα που αναπτύχθηκαν από τους ομιλητές ήταν πως στην Ελλάδα οι τομείς του θαλάσσιου τουρισμού, της κρουαζιέρας και του yachting  βρίθουν  ευκαιριών, τις οποίες οι νέοι δεν πρέπει να φοβηθούν να κυνηγήσουν και να εκμεταλλευτούν. Παράλληλα, ετέθησαν και συζητήθηκαν θέματα σχετικά με τα προβλήματα και τις προκλήσεις που αφορούν στην εξεύρεση στελεχών, δόθηκαν συμβουλές για τα βήματα που πρέπει να ακολουθήσει ένας νέος στην αρχή της καριέρας του ενώ όλοι επέμειναν πως πρέπει να δημιουργηθούν οι κατάλληλες συνθήκες «για να μείνουμε  Ελλάδα».

Το Forum τίμησαν με την παρουσία τους, μεταξύ άλλων, καθηγητές από τα μεγαλύτερα Πανεπιστημιακά Ιδρύματα της χώρας, υψηλόβαθμα στελέχη του Θαλάσσιου Τουρισμού και της Ναυτιλίας, εκπρόσωποι σημαντικών οργανισμών αλλά και εκπρόσωποι από το σύνολο του Ναυτιλιακού Τύπου.

Το YES to Sea Tourism ολοκληρώθηκε με στελέχη της ναυτιλιακής βιομηχανίας να συμμετέχουν σε 4 networking corners με θεματικές “Chartering, Crew and Operations Departments of a Shipping Company”, “Startups, Innovation & Save Time in Shipping Agencies”, “Technical and Finance Department of a Shipping Company” και “Marine Insurance and Classification Societies”, να δίνουν συμβουλές στους νέους και να απαντούν στα ερωτήματά τους για τους παραπάνω τομείς.

Στο τέλος η κυρία Δανάη Μπεζαντάκου κάλεσε όλους τους συντελεστές και υποστηρικτές του YES Forum να συνεχίσουν τον επιτυχημένο αυτό διάλογο και την επόμενη χρονιά, στο 2ο YES to Shipping Forum, στις 8 Ιουνίου του 2018 στα πλαίσια των Ποσειδωνίων 2018.
